The Woburn Library was selected from an impressive pool of libraries across the country as one of five designs recognized by this prestigious program – the only awards program that recognizes entire library structures and all aspects of their design. A partnership between the American Institute of Architects and the American Library Association/Library Leadership and Management Association, the awards recognize excellent design that demonstrates “a sense of place, purpose, ecology, environmental sustainability, and history” to achieve “the best in library architecture and design.”

The Woburn Public Library renovation and addition added an additional 30,500 square feet to the historic building in a simple yet elegant expansion that enhances rather than competes with the original design by Henry Hobson Richardson. Inclusive and efficient, the addition has revived the library’s status as a vibrant community center. Its flexible spaces accommodate future growth and shifting community needs, while its improved accessibility creates a welcoming learning environment for all.

Congratulations to the entire project team!
