UMass Boston Residential Complex

UMass Boston — Residential Complex

Location / Boston, Massachusetts
Client / Elkus Manfredi

The new residential complex is the University’s first housing to be offered to students on the Columbia Point campus. The complex consists of two buildings — the East Building and the West Building — and accommodates up to 1,000 students.

Located on the northwest corner of the campus, the new residential complex acts as a primary gateway to the University. Copley Wolff’s landscape design incorporates a major pedestrian corridor and gathering space to serve both residence halls and a large café and student market located on the ground floor of the East Building. The scope includes colored concrete plazas at each entry, café seating, and a series of curved seatwalls to provide seating and retain planted landscape mounds. A new quad provides flexible green space for students on the south side of the complex.
