Copley Wolff Design Group is currently providing landscape architectural and urban design services for the citywide Boulevard Project being implemented by the Boston Public Works Department. The project scope comprises Commonwealth Avenue from Kenmore Square to Brighton Avenue where an additional twenty feet of open space will be added to the sidewalk and MBTA median by eliminating one travel lane in each direction. Project responsibilities include existing conditions inventory, site analysis, design, community presentation and construction documents. Pedestrian amenities, accessibility, sidewalk and MBTA median design and crosswalk improvements are among the urban design and streetscape issues being addressed. Specific streetscape improvements include curbing and paving, site furnishings, planting, pocket parks, pedestrian lighting, recommendations for signage, facade treatments and the incorporation of public art.
