In 1990, while an Associate at Benjamin Thompson and Associates Inc., Lynn Wolff received a merit award and national recognition from the American Society of Landscape Architects for her work with the Grand Central District in New York City. This complex project involved the fifty million-dollar revitalization of a fifty-block area surrounding Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. The redesign effort targeted improvements to paving, lighting, graphics, signage, street furnishings and street plantings.
By redesigning the district, the plan sought to raise the vitality of the area envisioning it as a "hub" to be enjoyed both by visitors and those who live and work in the area. Lynn's responsibilities in the project included: project management and direction of a multi-disciplinary team, facilitation of a complex review and approval process with numerous New York City and State agencies, design review with the client group and individual private real estate owners within the district, as well as presentations and communications with numerous community groups and interested constituencies.
