The Friends Academy project involves landscape architectural design for a private school that sits on the grounds of a former 1920s English Tudor style country estate. The "home" was willed to the Academy in the 1940s and in the years since, three expansions have added to this historic nucleus. Copley Wolff Design Group is currently partnered with McManus Peterman Architects in the design of a new theater/commons building with related site improvements. Site improvements include interactive educational stations, natural science stations, natural science teaching labs and active recreational areas. One of the main components of the project involved the redesign of the formal entry to accommodate expanded drop-off and pick-up activities in a way that preserves the mature trees on the site. Additional features include expanded parking, planting and site lighting. A noted feature of the site design will be the relocation of the ceremonial graduation bell atop a rusticated stone pillar.
